WHY ASTROLOGY…?

Perhaps you are at a crossroads in your life. Maybe you have started to recognize some unhelpful patterns in the way you relate to your family, partner, or friends. Perhaps you are doing well, but have the nagging feeling that life is calling you to go deeper, look further.

Whether you “believe in” astrology or not, the planets and their positioning at the time of your birth have something to tell you about who you are. Your natal chart is a personal “ birth print,” holding rich and layered information about your innate gifts, challenges, and purpose for being here. The positioning of the planets does not make you who you are; it does not seal your fate in a deterministic way. Rather, it gives you an idea of “what you’re working with” as you embark on your unique life journey. In keeping with the axiom “as above, so below,” archetypal astrology invites you into a dance of co-creation with the universe. In so doing, it can help you to recognize deep patterns within yourself, gently unravel those which no longer serve you, and support and cultivate those that do.

HOW DOES IT WORK…?

The positioning of the planets at the time of your birth can tell us what kinds of forces and influences are part of your personal make-up. However, they are not simply balls of matter in the sky that somehow affect you through invisible physical forces. Instead, the planets function more like the hands of a universal clock, telling us “what time” it is. Is it a time for leaping up to meet new challenges head on? For softening into the flow? For buckling down into routine and trusting that we will eventually see the fruits of our labor, no matter how hard it is to envision now...?

Much like the hands of a clock might tell us it is 6:00pm - time for dinner - they do not cause us to eat; they can’t physically compel us to act. Rather, they simply mark a particular point in the ebb and flow of the day’s rhythms, a time when work is coming to a close and night is coming on. This time of day has a different energetic quality than morning, for example, when things are waking up, emerging, and getting ready for motion.

Similarly, the planets do not cause you to be a certain way, but they give an indication of the energetic time/state of the universe both currently, and when you were born. They give you a recipe, of sorts, for the energetic soup into which you emerged in physical form, and which therefore surrounded and infused you as you came into the world.

Each planet is associated with a particular kind of archetypal energy. These archetypes represent universal patterns and images that are part of the collective unconscious. We may recognize them as, for example, the desire to love, the impulse to act, the need for order, the yearning for spiritual connection, and myriad other aspects of the psyche. Every person has a combination of all the archetypes working within them, but the way these forces intersect and blend with each other is unique to each of us. Think of it like an artist’s palette: thousands of painters might use the same basic set of colors, but the variety of shades, tones, and images that they can create is infinite.

I came to archetypal astrology as a skeptic, and it took me years to accept it as a useful tool. Thus I feel particularly adapted to translating the language of astrology for folks who are also skeptical, or just new to the discipline. Together, we can explore the foundations of who you are, clarify some of the challenges you might be facing, and reconfigure those challenges into essential life teachings, even assets. We’ll find helpful ways for you to tap into the resources you were given at birth, uncover your innate gifts, and evolve into the human you are meant to be.

If you would like a reading, I’ll gather some initial information to get a feel for who you are and how you’d like to spend your session. We can focus on your natal chart on it’s own, or, if you are wondering what the heck is going on for you right now, we can look at your current transits as well.

I consider it an honor to help interpret an individual’s natal chart, and hold the process with tenderness and strict confidentiality. During our session your questions, hesitations, and curiosities are welcome.

RATES*

Natal chart reading (60 minutes): $150

Natal chart plus current transits (90 minutes): $200

Current transits for returning clients (60 minutes): $140

*Please note that each reading includes 2-4 hours of preparation time, so my hourly rate is lower than what you see listed, above. I also offer a sliding scale on a case by case basis.
